Julia Gillard admits the $16.2 billion ‘Building Education Revolution’ scheme she oversaw when she was education minister should have allowed individual schools to manage building projects and embrace “a commercial hard-headed” view. While she has seen the wisdom of the conservative position of devolution of responsibility for health and education, the many other issues that the Federal Government has screwed-up — insulation, green energy, internet censorship — to name just a few, are testimony to the failed Labor experiment in central government. The Federal Government has become a sheltered workshop for aging student activists.
Gillard’s greatest disaster, however, is going to be preference swapping with the Greens. Green ideology will be unfettered and will make the Pink Batts fiasco look like a model of efficiency and common sense.
